Guide to Uploading (existing) H5P Content to Moodle
Introduction
H5P content created elsewhere (e.g., on H5P.com, or as part of another course) can be reused and embedded within our course. However I would recommend downloading the .H5P file (if you have access) and uploading it our Moodle course content bank, so that all content for our course is kept together and hosted on the HEA OpenCourses Moodle site.
Once you have your .H5P file downloaded, you can upload it to our Moodle course’s content bank by following the below steps.
To Upload to the Course Content Bank
- From the Course Homepage, select the More dropdown menu.
- Select Content bank
- Select the Upload button
- Select Choose a file… to open a upload file picker, or drag and drop your H5P file
- Once finished, select Save changes
- Your file should now be stored in the Content bank
To Add Your H5P as a New Activity
- Go to your Topic and select Add an Activity or Resource (it doesn’t matter where you add it, as we can reorder them once the other Topic content is added)
- Select the H5P activity
- Enter the Name, Description, etc., and then in the “Package file” section, select the small + button.
- Select Content Bank
- Select your uploaded file
- Select the “Make a copy of the file” option if you want a fully independent copy of that H5P, or select “Link to the file” if the H5P is to be used in several places and you want to be able to make changes to all of them at once through the Content Bank
- Choose the Select this file button.
- Finally, select Save and Display
- Your H5P will now appear as a separate activity in your topic.
